I used to be enough for myself in the morning is one of those performances by spoken word artist Azure Antoinette that resonates deeply with me. You know those times when you listen to something and you do more than hear the words? When you have an embodied experience and connect with something deeply. Listening to this performance for the first time was one of those moments for me.
It was performed at a conference to celebrate ‘all the progress and all the energy of all girls in all the world’. I have it booked marked and return to it often. As I read and hear more and more about the levels of stress and anxiety experienced by young girls and women it feels like something that needs to be shared a million times.
There is no need for me to say anymore. The video lasts for 6 minutes and, if you decide to click the video, this performance is for you to make your own.
If it touches you, share with your girlfriends, daughters and colleagues. Most of all make some time today to listen to the voice that say’s, it’s me it’s been a while but I’ve never really left you……..
